Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I require a referral?
  2. No. Podiatrists are primary care practitioners & you do not require a referral to see a podiatrist.

The only time you will need a referral from your doctor is if you are a part of Veteran Affairs, Workcover & the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program.

  3. Rebate Eligibility
  4. Rebates from your private health fund are available to those patients with “extras” cover. You can instantly claim through HICAPS, and the rebate will depend on your level of cover.

Patients with chronic, high risk conditions such as diabetes may be referred by their General Practitioner for podiatry treatment through Medicare under an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan.
